Biaggi rules out wild-card WSBK return

Two-time champion Max Biaggi has ruled out making a return to the World Superbike Championship in 2015, insisting he is focused only on testing duties.

The Italian retired after his second WSBK title in 2012, but has maintained a relationship with Aprilia Racing and has embarked on a handful of testing outings, most recently in Portimao and Jerez.

Helping the manufacturer with its World Superbike and burgeoning MotoGP effort, Biaggi's increased presence in recent months had raised speculation that he may be considering a return to the series with a handful of wild-card outings on the RSV4.

However, the Italian has refuted those claims, insisting he has no interest in returning to racing and is happy with his current role.

"I'm sorry to say this but I won't be doing any wildcard ride this year," he added. "I am just a test rider so my goal is to put in as many laps as possible while evaluating new components and settings for both the MotoGP and World Superbike motorcycles."
