The third free practice session at Misano was effectively scratched out by rain at the Italian circuit with only Jordi Torres and Leandro Mercado completing laps while the order remained unchanged to see Lorenzo Savadori end the day on top for Milwaukee Aprilia.

After rain showers arrived early into World Supersport’s afternoon free practice session, conditions remained unfavourable for the 40-minute FP3 session which saw just Torres on the MV Agusta and Mercado on the Orelac Racing Kawasaki venture out in the tricky conditions.

Both riders were around 20 seconds off the dry weather pace, leading to no improvements on the earlier times, while Mercado saved a hairy moment during his final run which could have been an embarrassing crash.

As a result, the combined free practice times remained unchanged seeing Milwaukee Aprilia take a 1-2 with Savadori at the top of the times ahead of teammate Eugene Laverty.

Jonathan Rea held on to third for Kawasaki ahead of Loris Baz (Althea BMW) and Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha). Leon Camier also secured an automatic spot into Superpole 2 for Red Bull Honda ahead of Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing Ducati), Xavi Fores (Barni Ducati) and Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing Ducati) while Tom Sykes sneaked in to Superpole 2 in 10th place.

It sees Michael Ruben Rinaldi narrowly missed out on the pole position session for the junior factory Ducati squad along with Pata Yamaha’s Michael van der Mark.
