Alex Lowes enjoys every one of 104 laps turned around MotorLand Aragon in the final WorldSBK pre-season test of 2021.
‘I had a smile on my face’, ready to ‘start the party for round one’ - Lowes

Kawasaki rider Alex Lowes completed his final pre-season test for the Japanese manufacturer second fastest behind team-mate Jonathan Rea this week.

Lowes goes into his second season with the KRT squad in 2021, and if testing is to suggest anything, it’s that Lowes is feeling good about where he and the revamped Nina ZX-10RR stands.

"That was a good test for me. One of the main targets for today was to improve my feeling with the electronics on the bike," added Lowes.

"We did two race simulations this afternoon in hot conditions when the track, in theory, has the least grip. We were trying to find a better feeling with the bike. Overall I am really happy.

"We didn’t piece the whole bike together but now we have a couple of weeks to check the data and put our favourite feelings and start the party for round one!

"104 laps is maybe not the most I have done on one day on the Kawasaki but I had a smile on my face for all of them, so that is the main thing."

Lowes was the only rider to get within a second of six-time world champion Rea on the combined timesheets at Aragon - +0.666s back to be exact.

The former BSB champion has been consistent and fast throughout testing so far, and based on his first season with Kawasaki in 2020, consistency is especially unlikely to be an issue as he claimed a top ten result in every race he finished - 20 of 24 races.

Lowes will next be in action along with the entire WorldSBK grid two weeks from today for FP1 in Teruel.
