Toprak Razgatlioglu has grabbed his second World Superbike win by sprinting from 16th place on the grid in a stunning display by the Puccetti Kawasaki rider.

In the 10-lap sprint race the Turkish rider repeated his Race 1 feat by charging through the pack, going from 16th to eighth place by the end of the first lap, before reeling in his front-running rivals.

At mid-race distance Razgatlioglu dived into second place ahead of Michael van der Mark at the hairpin before repeating the move two laps later on Jonathan Rea to take the lead.

Rea hoped to repay the favour on the final lap at the hairpin but couldn’t perfect his braking as he ran wide on the exit of the corner which allowed his Turkish rival to bolt back by into the lead.

With Razgatioglu and Rea repeating the top two from Race 1, van der Mark made amends for his crash in yesterday’s race by taking the final podium spot for Pata Yamaha having seen off a late attack from Chaz Davies on the Aruba.it Racing Ducati.

Rea’s chief title rival Alvaro Bautista could only reach fifth place which sees the reigning World Superbike champion’s lead stretch to 104 points in the riders’ standings.

Alex Lowes had to settle for sixth place for Pata Yamaha ahead of Ten Kate Racing Yamaha’s Loris Baz and BMW’s Tom Sykes.

Leon Haslam completed the top nine on the factory Kawasaki after suffering a late race fade, but kept comfortably clear of Michael Ruben Rinaldi on the Barni Ducati.

Sandro Cortese bolted up to 11th place late on to beat GRT Yamaha team-mate Marco Melandri with Eugene Laverty down in 13th place for Team Goeleven Ducati.

Leandro Mercado beat fellow customer Kawasaki rider Jordi Torres, with Moriwaki Althea Honda’s Leon Camier also fading late on to 16th place.

With Markus Reiterberger in 17th place for BMW, Sylvain Barrier beat Alessandro Delbianco with Ryuichi Kiyonari completing the finishers despite a late fall.
