The 2011 Misano round of the World Supersport Championship is set to see the highest number of bikes line up on the grid in three years after 38 riders were published on the entry list.

Having struggled for numbers in 2010, World Supersports has enjoyed something of a resurgence in 2011, attracting regular grids of approximately 30 riders across 17 full-time teams.

However, this weekend's WSS round at Misano will be further boosted by an influx of wild-card entries, which bring entry levels up to 37 - the highest number since the 2008 Misano round of the World Supersport Championship.

Among those listed, six wild-cards are Italian - Ilario Dionisi, William Marconi, Stefano Cruciani, Mirko GIansanti, Alessio Velini and Iuri Vigilucci -, while Russian riders Valery Yurchenko and Vladimir Leonov are also included.

Despite the large grid, the field will still be missing its championship leader in Luca Scassa after he was banned for a testing infringement.

His ParkinGO Yamaha team have since opted not to replace him, with just Chaz Davies - who shares the series lead with Scassa - competing on the Yamaha R6.
