Samsung Honda's Jon Kirkham says he is 'gutted' he will miss tomorrow's two MCE British Superbike Championship races at Oulton Park.

Kirkham crashed out at high speed in the opening race today at Water Tower and the race was re-started as a result of the accident.

The Brands Hatch race winner suffered concussion in the fall and was knocked unconscious, ruling him out of the remainder of the meeting.

Kirkham said: "I can't really remember too much about the crash to be honest; I have seen the footage and all I can remember was just before I got a bit of a slide on at the chicane and knew I had to push as Haga was there.

"I think maybe I was just pushing too hard or something as it is unlike me to crash in a race.

"I have concussion and ache a bit, but this circuit is so physical that I feel like that after a good few sessions anyway," he told the official British Superbike website.

"All I can say really is I am absolutely gutted to have ended the weekend like this; I saw Oulton Park as a chance to score some good points for the championship and we had some good pace.

"I just feel so disappointed for the whole of the Samsung Honda team."
