To complete one of the most dynamic line-ups ever seen in British Superbike racing, Team Virgin Mobile have announced the signing of Jamie Robinson for the 2001 season.

Robinson joins James Haydon in the high-profile team aboard the incredible Virgin Mobile Yamaha R7 Superbikes to contest all 12 rounds of the domestic championship, adding his energetic style to the most successful squad the UK has ever produced.

Robinson, 24-years old from Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, has impressed race watchers with his mature style and ferocious combination of on-track skill and aggression, developing his talent in the punishing 250cc World Grand Prix Championship over the past year.

"I am over the moon to be joining Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha." Robinson enthused, "I have been watching their progress and realise that this is a dream chance for me to be working with what is undoubtedly the best team in the country."

"I realise that I have a lot to learn about riding a 750cc four-cylinder Superbike after spending so long racing the smaller machines and that is another reason why I am so delighted to be a part of the team. Having seen how they help a rider develop his skill and take it on to the next level is something I am massively looking forward to being a part of," he added.

Team Manager Rob McElnea was jubilant about his 2001 line-up, "With Jamie signing for us we now have arguably the most exciting line-up in the Championship. Seldom do we have the chance to sign one rider with as much all-out talent and hunger for the job - by landing both Haydon and Robinson we have really hit the jackpot for the coming season."

McElnea continued, "With both Virgin Mobile and Aiwa backing the team for 2001 we have in place the most pro-active and forward-thinking set-up ever seen in motorcycle racing which will benefit not only the team, but the sport as a whole."

"As the most successful British Superbike team ever we have always looked at taking the next step forward and bringing more to the sport while spreading the word further a field. With such an incredible team, incredible pair of riders and incredible backers we have everything in place to do just that." McElnea added confidently.

The thirteen round British Superbike Championship begins on April 1 at Donington park.
