Bathams Honda has confirmed that Tommy Bridewell has left the team ahead of the sixth round of the season at Brands Hatch.

The British rider was an unexpected 'Title Showdown' contender in BSB last season riding the Supersonic BMW, but a switch to Bathams Honda this year hasn't yielded the results expected.

With a best finish of fifth place, plus five costly retirements, to his name, Bridewell has duly called an end to his time at the team.

"After careful consideration and with mutual agreement, Tommy will leave with immediate effect," said a Bathams team statement.

Though Bridewell was most recently seen in the World Supersport Championship at Imola riding a Lorini Honda alongside Raffaele de Rosa, he is not present in Moscow this weekend and has stated a desire to stay in BSB.

Michael Rutter will thus be the only Bathams rider at Brands Hatch this weekend, but the team is searching "for an exciting and worthy replacement which they hope to announce soon.

"The team would like to thank Tommy for his effort and wish him the best of luck for the remainder of his season."
