James Haydon is to return to the saddle for the latest round of the British Superbike Championship in the place of the injured Stuart Easton.

The first time Haydon has competed in the championship since last season, the former BSB race winner will be back in action at the upcoming Mallory Park round aboard the MSS Discovery Kawasaki.

Haydon, who last competed in BSB for Hawk Kawasaki, is rumoured to have already gotten his first test of the MSS Discovery machine ahead of the weekend and is expected to be up and running this weekend alongside Billy McConnell.

"I will definitely be out at Mallory Park this weekend and I can't wait to be back on the grid. I am sorry for Stuart but at the same time Nick Morgan runs a strong team and I want to get the best results I can for them. I want to finish inside the top ten and if I can do that I will be over the moon.

"I have had some laps here at Brands Hatch today and at Mallory Park last week, but at Mallory we only had two short sessions so we could not test properly. We have been working on the corners but it is more of a case of getting used to riding again, especially with the bike and the Pirelli tyres.

"For me some track time is better than none at all. Mallory Park is a difficult circuit to start with but we will see how it goes, and if Stuart is not fit in time for Oulton Park I will probably be out there as well."

Easton broke his wrist in a high-speed crash during qualifying for the previous BSB round at Snetterton.
