Leon Haslam has claimed a historic victory leading home JG Speedfit Kawasaki team-mates James Elliosn and Peter Hickman to lockout the podium in race one of the triple-header at Oulton Park.

For the first time in MCE British Superbike history the same team has taken all three places on the podium with Haslam's victory eating into Shane Byrne's lead ahead of the Showdown.

With Haslam holding off Ellison in the closing stages it was Byrne's heart-in-mouth incident with two laps to go which promoted Hickman into third. The BSB championship leader somehow recovered a near high-side going through Knickerbrook but while aiming to scrub off momentum he ran wide into the gravel trap.

Despite staying mounted on his Be Wiser Ducati, Byrne returned to the track down in tenth and eventually recovered to finish in ninth place.

In the final lap Honda's Jason O'Halloran almost ruined the perfect JG Speedfit Kawasaki formation battling Hickman for third but narrowly missed out at the line in fourth, ahead of Honda team-mate Dan Linfoot with fellow Showdown contender Richard Cooper on the Buildbase BMW in sixth.

Luke Mossey kept his Showdown hopes alive for Quattro Plant Kawasaki in seventh ahead of Tyco BMW's Michael Laverty and Byrne as Lee Jackson completed the top ten finishers.
