Bruno Senna has launched a new initiative inviting F1 fans to help design a helmet which he will wear later this season to honour his late uncle Ayrton.

The Brazilian legend would have been 50 this year and nephew Bruno will mark the occasion by wearing a special helmet to mark the occasion.

Rather than design the helmet himself, the Hispania Racing driver is offering F1 fans the chance to create a new design for his crash helmet, along the theme 'Ayrton Senna's 50th Anniversary'.

The winning design will be specially painted on Bruno Senna's crash helmet and will be worn by the Brazilian as a one-off later in the F1 season.

In addition to the thrill of seeing their design be worn during an F1 race, the winner will also receive their own replica of the helmet, signed by Bruno, together with a signed photo of the driver proudly wearing the design.

The race helmet worn by Bruno will then be auctioned as a prize, with all money raised to be donated to the Ayrton Senna Foundation.

Fans can submit their designs from today [Monday] on Senna's official website - www.brunosenna.com.br - with the competition closing on 12 September.

A short list of five will then be published for the winning design to be chosen through a public vote.
