Adam Parr, the former CEO of the Williams F1 team, is to make a return to the motosport arena after being appointed to the board of Cosworth.

Parr, who was chairman of Williams' F1 team from 2010 to 2012, had been tipped to one day succeed Sir Frank Williams with the former championship winning team before stepping down to spend more time with his family.

Parr has since been working with a sports foundation dedicated to securing the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic Games but will now join Cosworth as one of three new board members as the company seeks to boost its own fortunes.

Alongside Parr, Carl-Peter Forster - former chief executive of Tata Motors - and Alan Donnelly - a former MEP who founded communications agency Sovereign Strategy - will also join the Cosworth board, according to a report in the Guardian.

Cosworth's involvement in F1 came to an end at the conclusion of 2013 when its supply deal with Marussia came to an end.
