Grosjean: Best tribute is to put French flag on podium

Romain Grosjean has expressed his sadness and sorrow at the Paris terror attacks in his native France, saying the ultimate tribute he could offer is to ensure the tricolore is flying over the podium come Sunday.

As the only French driver on the current F1 grid, Grosjean admits he has been affected by the tragedy, which saw several simultaneous attacks unfold across the French capital city, leaving at least 129 people dead.

Going on to qualify in 15th position after spinning during Q2, Grosjean says his focus is now on ensuring he delivers the best possible result as a means of his own tribute.

"I think the best thing we can do is try to put the French flag on top of the podium. It's going to be hard but let's do a race, think about what happened and hope that peace comes back quickly.

"I think what happened on Friday is big because it can happen anywhere in the world and we do not want to see that. So as a Frenchman today if there is a minute of silence then for me it will be for the people in Paris and that have been attacked."
