Wurz receives Prince Michael road safety award

Alex and Franz Wurz have been awarded the Prince Michel International Award for Road Safety on behalf of their company Test & Training International

Alex and Franz Wurz have been awarded the Prince Michel International Award for Road Safety on behalf of their company Test & Training International (TTI) for its outstanding contribution to road safety.

The former Formula 1 star and two-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner has been honoured alongside his father Franz, a three-time European Rallycross champion, after TTI was recognised for its invention of strict road safety driver training, including facilities, design and operations of a successful training programme.

TTI has been working with the FIA since 2011 as an operating partner of the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy.

The father and son Wurz team was given the award by Prince Michael of Kent at the Savoy Hotel in London and it is Alex says he's delighted to receive the award alongside his dad.

"I am particularly proud to have been with my father during the award ceremony with HRH Prince Michael of Kent," Alex Wurz said. "My dad has invented numerous road safety training methods over the last 30 years which have saved countless lives. That his dedication, vision and work was honoured with such prestigious award, serves as great motivation for our company, myself and hopefully for more people around the world to keep working towards safer roads."

Wurz recently announced his retirement from racing and ended his career with an emotional third place finish for Toyota at the World Endurance Championship season finale in Bahrain.
