Jordan and Peugeot could be ready to renew old acquaintances, if paddock rumour at the British Grand Prix is correct.


The French manufacturer is keen to stay in Formula One after its deal with Prost expires next year, but is disappointed with the performance of the former world champion's team during their partnership. Now, according to stories doing the rounds at Silverstone, Peugeot representatives have been seen in conversation with Jordan top brass, suggesting a return to arms for both parties.

Jordan ran Peugeot engines - with some success - between 1995 and 1997, and is known to be disappointed with its secondary Honda status behind newcomers British American Racing next season. The two parted company when Peugeot decided to form an all-French assault with Prost last season, leaving Jordan to take Mugen engines in exchange.


"We know Eddie Jordan is talking a lot to [Peugeot Sport boss Corrado] Provera," said one Prost insider, "but whether they will seriously consider joining forces again is another matter."
