Schumacher plays in charity football match.

Three times World Champion Michael Schumacher took part in a charity football match on Wednesday at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The match was organised by TV network Rede Globo and Unicef to help underprivileged children in Brazil as part of the Hope for Children programme.

Three times World Champion Michael Schumacher took part in a charity football match on Wednesday at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The match was organised by TV network Rede Globo and Unicef to help underprivileged children in Brazil as part of the Hope for Children programme.

The event attended by 35,000 fans saw Michael Schumacher score from the penalty spot. Schumacher played alongside Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo, who was playing his first game in public since his serious injury on April 12th 2000. Schumacher and Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes and their team triumphed 10-9.
