Watson tells Eddie work harder.
Former Grand Prix driver John Watson has said that Eddie Irvine needs to get his act together and stop gallivanting around. The ex-McLaren driver added he needs to make up his mind is: "he a GP driver or a playboy?"
He told British newspaper The Daily Express: "This year, Eddie has to come off his holidays, work harder and learn to be a team leader. At the moment Eddie the driver seems to be controlled by Eddie the celebrity, and he has to realise that the way he conducts his personal life is very relevant to his role within the team."

He added: "He has raced with (Michael) Schumacher so he understands how a top team operates. I had expected more of that knowledge to filter into Jaguar. If you want to be ultra-cynical about it, he is into cash-and-collect. At the moment, Eddie is not doing himself any favours. You can't be a playboy, racing around the world, because it becomes difficult to see where your commitment lies. It can make people think you are arrogant."
"It is easy to de-motivate a team without realising it, and there are degrees of commitment. Eddie recently said he wanted to spend more of his free time in America, and that is the wrong message to send out to a team that is struggling."
"He is a bright lad but, if I was his team boss, I would ask him: 'Which are you, a Grand Prix driver or a playboy?' I told him that, had I been in charge of the team, I would have paid him $2 million and topped it up with performance bonuses. This is a tough business and you shouldn't undermine your position. Eddie is at the stage in his career where, if he does not perform at Jaguar, he will find it difficult to secure another top drive."
