In last summer's Sydney Olympics, the man from the Czech Republic became the first javelin thrower in history to pick up a third consecutive gold, setting a new Olympic record, by throwing the javelin 90.17 metres.

The 35 year old's performance was all the more remarkable as he had been forced to miss a whole season through injury. Zelezny has taken the world record six times in his career and currently holds it with a throw of 98.48 metres, set in Germany four years ago.

As a youngster, Jan tried his hand at handball and ice hockey, only turning to athletics at the age of 15. Javelin throwing was something of a foregone conclusion as both his parents and elder brother were adept at the discipline; his mother being a five times national record holder.

Zelezny will take part in a photoshoot at 11h00 on race-day, Sunday 28th April, at the Communications Centre. Team drivers David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen will also be present for the photo call.
