Renault claims successful conclusion to test.

The Mild Seven Renault team completed its latest productive test today [Thursday], after spending three days running at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

With Fernando Alonso driving last season's car, the R202, over the three days, the team carried out a successful programme, concentrating on the suspension development and brake systems for next year. The Spaniard finished the third day in the lower reaches of the timesheets, but the team insists that reliability rather than outright speed was the aim of the test.

Renault also started testing with its first batch of young driving graduates, as French Euro F3000 frontrunner Romain Dumas took the wheel on Tuesday and immediately showed an amazing adaptation to the complexities of an F1 car. The former Palmer Audi stand-out completed his test on Wednesday, before handing over to another hopeful in the from of Portugal's Tiago Monteiro. The FIA F3000 regular completed his test today, running over 58 laps with the R202..

"We had another useful day's testing, with Fernando completing the test programme in the R202," technical director Mike Gascoyne summarised, "Overall, we were able to finish all our assessments during the three days, and gathered some useful data for next season."

Renault is next scheduled to run at Jerez between 10-14 December.
