Having received an 'Achievement in Sport' award last month, British Formula One star Justin Wilson has been showered with another accolade, this time from the readers of F1 Racing magazine.

In the publication's end of season award edition, Wilson successfully fought off the competition to win the 'Start of the Year' award for his stunning getaway at the Malaysian Grand Prix in the under-powered Minardi PS03.

In only his second F1 start the Sheffield-born rookie fired himself through the order from 19th on the grid to 8th by the end of the first lap round the Sepang circuit.

While others stalled or collected one another, Wilson skillfully exploited all opportunities to launch himself up the order on the opening lap, and it wouldn't be the last time either, as he would ably demonstrate once again in Spain and Canada.

Wilson dominated the voting for the award, collecting 42 per cent of the vote, with his closest challenger Fernando Alonso, for his efforts in the German Grand Prix, only garnering 27 per cent of votes cast.

Elsewhere in the award section Wilson finished runner-up behind Brazil's Cristiano da Matta in the 'Rookie of the Year' category, the 25-year-old proving popular with 32 per cent of the vote from a total of 38,930 readers participating.
