Speaking to British newspaper, The News of the World, a spokesperson for the Maranello squad said that they could copy the 'tusk nose' design, should it prove a significant step forward.

"We will review the design before the start of the season," the Scuderia told the British tabloid.

"We investigated a similar concept a few years ago and at that time it didn't seem to offer anything to us - but now perhaps it is something we should look at again."

Renault's director of engineering, Pat Symonds, has also admitted that the idea could be incorporated onto the new R24 - Renault's 2004-car.

Symonds speaking at the Autosport show told Reuters: "The new Williams [unveiled to the world last Monday] appears interesting and logical.

"We'll look at it in the wind tunnel soon and other teams will be trying it as well, I'm sure.

"We could incorporate the idea into our 2004 car.

"But really you can't look at one part in isolation. You need to understand the whole concept otherwise you won't get very far."
