2004 British F3 champion, Nelson Piquet Jr will join BAR-Honda in Jerez this week where he will have the opportunity to drive a BAR-Honda 006 car during the first day of the team's latest test programme.

Piquet Jr will run on Tuesday 8 February, where the team will continue to focus on its intensive pre-season development programme with all four of its regular drivers, namely Jenson Button, Takuma Sato, Anthony Davidson and Enrique Bernoldi.

"Piquet Jr, the son of three-times F1 world champion Nelson Piquet, was extended this opportunity in recognition of his achievements in British F3 last year, in which he became the youngest-ever winner of the series," explained a statement from the team, "This opportunity enables Nelsinho to continue the long-standing association between the Piquet name and Honda, as his father won seven of his 23 victories with a Honda-powered team."

This though will not be Piquet Jr's first F1 test, however, the Brazilian having previously been given opportunities by the BMW-Williams F1 team in December 2003 and February last year.
