Ocon had spun race leader Verstappen while trying to unlap himself, costing the Red Bull racer a potential race victory as Lewis Hamilton grabbed his 10th win of the year in Brazil. The incident saw Ocon receive a 10-second stop/go penalty during the race and three penalty points on his FIA super license.

Verstappen and Ocon have both been referred to the stewards over a breach of the FIA International Sporting Code, "act prejudicial to the interests of any Competition or to the interests of motor sport generally" and for "physical contact with another competitor".

Both drivers will see the stewards at 1815 local time (2015 GMT).
