McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris will enter the latest round of the Australian Supercars All Stars Eseries in a wildcard appearance.

The Briton, who already has a packed online racing schedule including taking part in Formula 1’s Virtual Grand Prix series and IndyCar’s iRacing Challenge events, will drive a wildcard entry for the Walkinshaw Andretti team on Wednesday evening around the Belgian Grand Prix’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

He is the second Formula 1 driver after Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to make a cameo in the Supercars Esports series. Verstappen took part in the Silverstone and Barcelona round last month, with the Dutchman recording a best result of second place.

“I’m super excited to announce I’ll be joining the Supercars grid in Spa this week,” Norris said.

“There’s a lot of fast drivers in it. It’s going to be very tough, very competitive, but I’ve watched pretty much all of the races so far in the championship and it looks a lot of fun.”

Norris overcame server issues to contest Sunday’s Formula 1 Virtual Grand Prix and recovered from the back of the grid to finish 10th. Similar issues had prevented Norris from taking the start of the previous three rounds.

The event took place one day after the Briton was controversially taken out of the lead of the IndyCar iRacing Challenge at Indianapolis by Simon Pagenaud on Saturday.
