Formula 3 driver Andy Priaulx will be reunited with former race team Promatecme for the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in November.

He was offered the deal to enter the blue riband event and jumped at the chance to join up with the team that gave him his first full year in the British Formula 3 championship.

Promatecme will run two Mugen-Honda powered cars in the Far East event with Priaulx being accompanied by Macau rookie Bruce Johanny. Priaulx has an added bonus in the shape of former Jaguar engineer Alan Woodhead who will join him as race engineer.

Priaulx explained: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me which I didn't expect to get. I'm delighted to be able to drive for Promatecme again and hope to be able to improve on the job I did last year."

In 2000, Andy Priaulx finished in the top ten in both races amongst a world-class grid of the most talented young drivers in the world. The cream of the world's F3 drivers compete on a street circuit that is infamous for its lack of overtaking opportunities and bumpy surface.

Chris Weller, team director, is pleased with his driver line-up, calling it his dream team. He recognises that Promatecme has an excellent chance of a strong result. He said: "We had a strong season with Andy in the driving seat last year and he's continued to mature as a driver. He did very well in Macau last year and we've got high hopes of a strong result in 2001."

Priaulx is expecting to finalise a deal with touring cars for 2002 and added: "I want to finish my single seater career on a high. I have nothing to prove but everything to gain and am confident of finishing well. To get onto the podium is my aim, but to win would be a huge boost."

The Macau Grand Prix will be held on November 17th/18th, with the finishing result of race one confirming his grid position for race two. It is an extremely popular and prestigious event which last year attracted 22,000 trackside spectators and half a billion TV viewers worldwide.

Priaulx is now undertaking a rigorous test programme with the Promatecme in preparation for the event.
