Lola unveils B05/30.

Following the news that it is to split from the successful partnership it enjoyed with Japanese manufacturer Dome, Lola Cars has unveiled its new B05/30 Formula Three car that it hopes will follow on from the Lola-Dome F106 that challenged the category stranglehold enjoyed by Dallara since 1993.

The next phase of Lola's F3 campaign begins immediately, following an exhaustive development period in which the F106 demonstrated its adaptability to the different tyres and engines used in the variety of series worldwide.

This year alone, the F106 has celebrated eleven outright victories and is currently challenging for titles in Italy and Japan. In the UK, Danny Watts finally broke through in June's Castle Combe meeting, helping the Promatecme team to end eleven years of Dallara victories with a win that re-wrote the history books.

The new car has just started production, having been through an intensive design process featuring Lola's state-of-the-art on-site 50 per cent windtunnel and the company's renowned CFD capability. Excellent aerodynamic efficiency was a significant trademark of the existing car, and Lola's engineers are looking to create an even bigger impact with what the company claims will be the most technically-advanced F3 car ever built.

Utilising design cues from the latest Formula One concepts, the B05/30 should boast improved handling and downforce in low speed corners, revised front suspension geometry and a re-packaged transmission. Also, working closely with Lola's seven-post vehicle dynamic testing rig, the B05/30 will offer three configurations of suspension layout - monoshock, twin-shock and a third spring option.

"There is a real confidence around the factory about what the new car will be capable of, and we believe that it will take us to the next step in proving to be a consistent winner," Lola MD Rupert Manwaring said of the new design, "The experience that we take from the last two development years of the project stands in good stead to provide teams with a car that will enjoy a clear advantage throughout the next three years."

As has been the case since re-entering the F3 arena at the beginning of last year, Lola will ensure that dedicated technical support will be on hand for each customer in maintaining constant technical improvements. In order to continue Lola's reputation as a devoted customer-driven organisation, there will also be increased support at each track the car races on.

The B05/30 will test for the first time in mid-December ahead of New Year deliveries.
