Kimball takes wet pole.

Carlin Motorsport's Charlie Kimball took pole position at Monza for the first race of this weekend's British F3 International Series, the American driver stealing the position in the dying seconds on the drying track.

Contrary to earlier weather predictions, drivers were greeted with a very wet Monza Grand Prix circuit when arriving on Saturday morning, and the thirty minute session started with the rain still falling, although this soon ceased and a drier line began to emerge.

The early pace was set by Double R Racing's Dan Clarke before Alvaro Parente headed team-mate Kimball on the top of the monitors. Tim Bridgman made a brief appearance as fastest, before Parente and then Kimball went quickest. Ryan Lewis placed his T-Sport car top before the final lap lottery came in and Kimball assured his place at the front of the grid.

National class pole was taken by Salvador Duran from Josh Fisher.
