Australian Formula 3 points leader Tim Macrow is to swap open-wheel racing for closed top racing after being invited to race in the Porsche Supercup at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix support race.

Currently with an eight point lead in the Kumho backed series, Macrow will make the trip to the United Kingdom for a one-off outing in a Team Golden Spike Energy Porsche GT3 Cup Car at the famous circuit.

Although it will be his first experience of racing outside Australia and also of the Porsche itself, Macrow was delighted to have sealed a deal to race in the UK.

"To be given the opportunity to race in one of the most competitive one-make series' in the world, at a place like Silverstone, is just a dream," he enthused. "It's a fantastic opportunity for me and I have to thank Maher for the chance to drive one of these cars. I won't be able to drive the car before the weekend, and before I get there I won't have ever driven a car with a roof - but I still can't wait!"

A similar opportunity was given to regular PHR Scuderia supported driver Stuart Kostera, who drove in the Porsche Supercup opener this year, in Bahrain.

Tim - who has one race win and four podium finishes so far this season - and an eight-point lead over British driver Charlie Hollings - said that he was realistic when it came to expecting any results.

"Of course I would love to be up the front," he said. "But I'm being realistic and if I can get inside the top 20, out of a 30-car field, then I'll be happy."
