Disappointment for Waldschmidt.

Henki Waldschmidt showed impressive form during the F3 Masters event at Zolder but was left disappointed after a collision with Richard Philippe forced him out of the race in Belgium.

The SG Formula racer managed to make it into the top 20 shootout following the two pre-qualifying sessions but had to settle for 14th on the grid after losing out late in the session when the red flags came out after Dani Clos went into the wall.

Waldschmidt made a good start to the racec, but was hampered by the mayhem in the chaotic opening lap - being forced to take avoiding action to miss the cars of Renger van der Zande and Koudai Tsukakoshi which had clashed off the line.

It left Waldschmidt down in 16th place but he battled his way back up the order and was inside the top ten when he made a move to pass Carlin racer Philippe. However, when the young Frenchman fought back, contact between the two saw both cars go off into the gravel and out of the race.

"It's too bad that I was hit by Philippe, or I could have finished within the top five," Waldschmidt reflected. "In all, I had a very good weekend. The speed was definitely there and I got better and better as I got into my rhythm. Despite chaotic circumstances, I was able to push forward on the wet track and this promises many good things for the second half of the F3 Euroseries season.

"In preparation for that, we will test again at the circuit of Val de Vienne in France on Wednesday and Thursday and after that, we will travel on towards Brands Hatch for the next race in the championship."
