Jack Doohan, Enzo Fittipaldi and Jake Hughes have been confirmed as the driver line-up at HWA Racelab for the 2020 FIA Formula 3 championship.

Having retained Hughes for this year following a successful first campaign together, the German squad has opted to take on Doohan and Fittipaldi having been impressed by the pair during winter tests.

Hughes, who claimed the Mercedes-affiliated team’s maiden F3 win last year, will target a 2020 title attack after finishing in seventh place in last year’s drivers’ championship. Both Doohan and Fittipaldi will make their respective debuts in the F3 championship.

“After our promising first season last year, we are now looking to use the experience gained to improve again and consistently have more than one driver challenging for the podium this season. I am delighted that we have managed to secure the services of Jack and Enzo,” HWA CEO Ulrich Fritz said.

“However, we did not opt for them because of their famous names, but because of their immense talent, which they have both demonstrated emphatically in recent years. The FIA Formula 3 Championship is the next level for them both. In Jake, they have the right teacher at their side, from whom they can learn an awful lot.”

Doohan is the son of five-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan, while new team-mate Enzo also has a famous racing name as grandson to two-time F1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi.

The Australian driver finished runner-up in last year’s F3 Asia series, while the Brazilian F3 rookie claimed the runner-up spot in last year’s Formula Regional European Championship. Both carry F1 links as Doohan is supported by Red Bull and Fittipaldi is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
