Coors expands involvement with Hemelgarn, Lazier.

Coors Light will continue its affiliation with Indy Racing League championship team Hemelgarn Racing and driver Buddy Lazier, committing to the primary sponsorship role for the 2002 season.

Since 1998, Coors Light's involvement with Hemelgarn Racing and Lazier has resulted in much success, clinching the 2000 Indy Racing League championship and following up with a strong second place finish in 2001.

"We are delighted to have Coors Light continue their support of Hemelgarn Racing, Buddy Lazier and the Indy Racing League," team owner Ron Hemelgarn said, "We have achieved many victories together, including the 2000 series championship, and I look forward to many years together."

Coors Light is the fourth best-selling beer in the United States and Coors Brewing Company's most popular brand.

"The Hemelgarn team has done an amazing job providing thrills for all of us at Coors and for our racing fans around the country," said company chairman Peter H. Coors.

In addition to sponsoring Lazier, a Colorado native, Coors Brewing Company will further support the Indy Racing League by continuing as the 'official beer' of the series.

Commemorating Hemelgarn's 25th Anniversary at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the #91 Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone will combine Hemelgarn Racing's signature purple with a silver scheme representing the Coors Light Silver Bullet. The newly painted chassis will make its debut appearance at the California Speedway when Lazier participates in the annual 'Test in the West' on 6 February.

Long-time sponsors Delta Faucet, TaeBo and Life Fitness will also continue their support of Hemelgarn Racing.
