Still trying to finalise a deal that will allow them to run two cars in the 2003 Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, Newman-Haas Racing began several days of testing at the Sebring International Raceway on Monday with newly crowned Telefonica World Series Champion Ricardo Zonta and 2002 US Formula Ford 2000 Champion Bryan Sellers both getting time behind the wheel.

The team were using the #11 Lola-Toyota driven to fifth place in the 2002 CART Championship by Christian Fittipaldi around the modified 1.6-mile road course at Sebring.

Although no times were available from the test it is believed that both drivers adapted well to their first taste of CART machinery. The 20 year-old Sellers isn't in contention for a drive in 2003 and his appearance was a reward for winning the FF2000 title this year for Cape Motorsports but Zonta has been labelled as a potential teammate for his countryman Bruno Junqueira at Newman-Haas next year.

2002 FIA International Formula 3000 Champion Sebastien Bourdais is also scheduled to test with the team this week as was Justin Wilson before being confirmed at Minardi for 2003.
