Season summary:

Some things simply get better with age, and Justin Wilson is clearly one of them as he completed his best-ever season in the IndyCar Series with sixth place in the championship after impressive runs to podium positions at Long Beach, Detroit, Sonoma and Houston among 13 top tens in total over the course of the season. In fact Wilson might have finished as high up as fourth in the standings if not for that unhappy mid-race accident at the season finale at Fontana, which saw him spin and then hit by Tristan Vautier who had no where else to go. It left Wilson in hospital with some nasty hip injuries which is not the way anyone wants to finish the season - especially not one that's been as good as this one. The good news is that Wilson is well on his way to being fully mended in time for 2014.
