RuSPORT confirms Wilson extension.

Now under the ownership of Dan Pettit following his purchase of the team from Carl Russo, RuSPORT has confirmed the re-signing of Justin Wilson on a 'multi-year' contract.

The Briton, who secured seven podium finishes last season en route to second in the championship standings behind Sebastien Bourdais, will be looking to go one better this season as he extends his relationship with the team - which started in 2005 when he joined RuSPORT for his second season of Champ Car competition.

RuSPORT will also retain title sponsor CDW for the coming season, which will be the first year of Champ Car competition with the new Panoz DP01 chassis.

"I'm delighted to continue my relationship with RuSPORT and CDW," Wilson said. "CDW and their partners are fantastic sponsors and the RuSPORT team is hugely talented. It's been a great combination and we have big ambitions for the future. Continuity counts for a lot in motorsport and this extension will allow me to focus 100 per cent on getting the most out of the new DP01 and come out fighting for the 2007 championship."

New team boss Pettit added that he was delighted to retain the services of Wilson for his first season at the helm.

"We are absolutely delighted to have Justin driving the No. 9 CDW/RuSPORT car for us this year," he said. "He is a valuable asset and as a team, we look forward to taking him to the top of the podium. Justin is a unifying presence here at RuSPORT and his dedication and work ethic make him a true champion."

As well as finishing second in the chase for the Vanderbilt Cup, Wilson was awarded the Greg Moore Legacy award - the annual award that honours a driver's success and sportsmanship both on and off the track.
