Speyer: MotoGP tells us Assen will be fast.

Bridgestone's executive director of race operations for the Champ Car World Series, Al Speyer, is expecting a high-powered show for the fans at Assen this weekend, even if he has had to base his assumption on motorcycle racing.

Bridgestone's executive director of race operations for the Champ Car World Series, Al Speyer, is expecting a high-powered show for the fans at Assen this weekend, even if he has had to base his assumption on motorcycle racing.

Like Zolder last weekend, Assen is an all-new venue for the Champ Car series, leaving its exclusive tyre supplier to have to estimate what challenges the circuit will produce. Aware that the sweeping nature of the circuit is likely to make for a fast-paced event, Bridgestone Motorsport is bringing its highly durable and moderate-grip primary road course specification, along with its highest-grip road course spec for the alternate red-wallec 'option', the same specifications as used this year at Cleveland, Mont-Tremblant, Edmonton and Zolder.

"Assen is another race track that Bridgestone Motorsport has never visited with the Champ Car World Series," Speyer admitted, "However, we do know, from our participation in MotoGP, that it will be a very fast circuit, so the highly durable, moderate-grip road course primary black Potenza specification should prove to be a good choice.

"At the last race, in Belgium, the alternate red Potenzas proved to be quite durable as well. They didn't last as long as the primaries, but longer than drivers expected the alternate tyres to last, so that could change some of the strategies and make the race even more interesting for the fans in Assen, who are expected to turn out in droves."
