Fisher retains Dollar General backing.

Sarah Fisher expects to be back at the Indianapolis 500 this season, having done enough to convince sometime 2008 sponsor Dollar General to back her, not only for the blue riband event, but also three others on the forthcoming IndyCar Series schedule.

The 'small-box discount retailer' stepped in to help rescue Fisher's short '08 campaign after one of the Indy Racing League's most popular drivers lost a primary sponsor just weeks before the Indianapolis race, and has agreed to extend its backing into 2009 by acting as primary sponsor of the #67 Sarah Fisher Racing entry for the four races at Kansas, Indianapolis, Kentucky and Chicago. The company's yellow-and-black colours features on Fisher's car at last year's Kentucky and Chicagoland events.

"Dollar General is excited about being a part of IndyCar racing for a second season by sponsoring Sarah Fisher in four races," confirmed chairman and CEO Rick Dreiling, "We look forward to cheering for Sarah and SFR as her team continues to grow and succeed."

While hoping to run a full campaign in her second year as a team owner, Fisher will now take to the track for the first time in 2009 at Kansas Speedway on the weekend of 26 April, although talks are currently in progress with additional sponsors in a bid to expand the four-race schedule by two further outings.

"Kansas Speedway will be a great start for us this year," Fisher commented, "We began our 2008 season at Indianapolis, and to have the opportunity to be on track prior to Indy will be a great benchmark for our season.

"It has been a pleasure to work with Dollar General, and they have quickly become a great sponsor, as well as a trusted friend to the SFR team," Fisher said, "I enjoyed racing for them last year and am thrilled that they are back for four more races. With Dollar General behind us, we are planning on a very successful season."
