After a couple of years of Andretti Green domination, the enforced single-engine formula has seen former Toyota stablemates Penske and Target Chip Ganassi Racing sweep the board this season, with Castroneves staging his trademark fence climb after beating Ganassi's Scott Dixon to the line by just 0.2402secs under the lights in Texas.
Reigning IndyCar Series champion Dan Wheldon, who led the most laps for the third consecutive race, finished third for Ganassi, while new Indianapolis 500 champion Sam Hornish Jr claimed fourth for Penske.
Among the 'also-rans', Scott Sharp edged Vitor Meira at the line for fifth place, keeping Andretti Green out of the top six in a crash-free race.
