The 2018 Moto2 world champion has seen the start of his rookie MotoGP campaign blighted by crashes, suffering four consecutive DNFs between Jerez and Circuit de Catalunya, before ending his bad run with a 14th-place finish at Assen last weekend.

Bagnaia endured an mid-FP1 off at Sachsenring’s high-speed Turn 8 but returned to action in the session after making it back to his pits to jump on his second bike.

“He suffered some pain in the neck and after a while he had some headaches so we prefer that he undergoes some more checks,” Francesco Guidotti, Pramac Ducati team manager, said. “I think it is nothing special as he rode after the crash, and he was pretty fast, but when the muscle got colder he started to get some pain.”

Pramac Ducati confirmed the Italian rider will miss FP2 to undergo medical checks at Chemnitz hospital.

Bagnaia ended FP1 18th fastest, 1.339s slower than pace-setter Fabio Quartararo on the Petronas Yamaha, after completing 16 laps in total.
