Marc Marquez has held on to top spot at Sachsenring in drying conditions following overnight rain as cooler temperatures appear to aid the struggling Ducati riders.

With the German circuit reaching the crossing point between wet and dry tyres during the short 20-minute session, all MotoGP riders produced quick lap times late on with slick rubber which saw pole-sitter Marquez put his Repsol Honda at the top of the times with a 1m 23.116s – almost three seconds slower than his pole lap time.

Jack Miller led the Ducati charge in second place ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Francesco Bagnaia. All Ducatis were suffering in the hotter conditions at Sachsenring but with the overnight rain cooling the track it brought the Italian manufacturer back into contention.

Stefan Bradl also profited in the mixed conditions, standing in for the injured Jorge Lorenzo at Repsol Honda, by taking fifth place in warm-up in front of another Ducati charger in Danilo Petrucci – who had a hairy moment with Tito Rabat as the pair clashed fairings at Turn 1.

Front-row starter Fabio Quartararo claimed seventh place in warm-up for Petronas Yamaha ahead of an impressive session by Miguel Oliveira on the Tech3 KTM ahead of factory KTM’s Pol Espargaro and Monster Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales who rounded out the top 10.

It was another difficult session for Johann Zarco on the Red Bull KTM who crashed at the Waterfall corner while pushing on the levels of grip in the final five minutes of the session. Suzuki’s Joan Mir was another to hit trouble when he stopped on track with a suspected mechanical issue.
