Jorge Lorenzo is the 205 MotoGP world champion, after winning the Valencia season finale - while team-mate and title rival Valentino Rossi charged from 25th to 4th.

Rossi led Lorenzo by seven points heading into today's championship decider but began the race last on the grid after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) refused a request to suspend the Sepang penalty while his appeal is in progress.

A last minute technical problem for Cal Crutchlow then promoted Rossi one place on the grid.

Anthony West was again substituting for Karel Abraham with Broc Parkes making a MotoGP return in place of Alex de Angelis. Ducati test rider Michele Pirro was competing as a wild-card.

Today's race marked the last MotoGP appearance for 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden and the final event on Bridgestone tyres...
