Marc Marquez defends his perfect pole record at COTA by snatching the top spot back from Maverick Vinales on his final lap.

Valentino Rossi is third but with a significant gap to the top two. Vinales was visibly unhappy after tangling with Rossi earlier in the session.

Dani Pedrosa, Johann Zarco and a jubilant Jorge Lorenzo will form row two.

Alex Rins has been ruled out of the remainder of the weekend after fracturing his wrist in morning practice..
