2013 Charlotte NASCAR: Truck results

Kyle Busch won the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck race on Friday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch claimed his 31st victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race by convincingly winning the Friday night North Carolina Education Lottery 200 race under the floodlights at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Jeb Burton had taken his third pole position of the year and of his 10-race Truck Series career earlier on Friday and was lined up alongside Ty Dillon for the green flag, but it was Busch - making one of his infrequent returns to the Truck Series driving for his eponymous race team - who quickly powered his way to the lead and went on to hold it for 80 of the 134 laps. Despite a mid-race penalty for dragging a gas can out of his pit stall during an otherwise routine stop that resulted in a penalty putting him at the back of the field, Busch went on to benefit from a series of late-race cautions for accidents to claim his first win in the series since 2011 (actually just seven starts) by almost half a second ahead of Richard Childress Racing's Brendan Gaughan.

Matt Crafton finished in fourth place to extend his lead over Jeb Burton in the championship standings to 22 points.

Jennifer Jo Cobb pulled out of the event just before final practice, citing unspecified engine troubles. During the week, Cobb had alleged that fellow Truck driver Mike Harmon had been responsible for the theft of her $300,000 in a row over litigation for unpaid bills stemming from the time Harmon worked as Cobb's Nationwide Series team manager. Cobb said on Thursday that "I absolutely feel in danger" about racing Harmon at Charlotte.

Saturday night sees the Sprint All-Star exhibition race. There is no NASCAR Nationwide Series race this weekend.
