Jimmie Johnson won the rain-delayed Saturday night NASCAR All-Star Race under the floodlights at Charlotte Motorspeedway, to give him four wins in the event in 12 starts - more than any other driver.

It was back-to-back wins for the five-time champion - only the second driver to accomplish this after Davey Allison in 1991/2 - as he had also won in 2012 to add to his prior victories in 2003 and 2006.

Joey Logano finished 1.722s back in second place to record his best performance in the event so far. The most laps led was shared by the Busch brothers who were each out in front for 29 of the 90-lap All Star Race.

Jame McMurray and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. both made it into the All-Star race after coming first and second respectively in the 40-lap Sprint Showdown that preceded it. The winner of the fan favourite vote was Danica Patrick.

The regular NASCAR Sprint Cup championship season continues next weekend with the Coke-Cola 600 on Sunday May 26, which follows the running of the Indianapolis 500.
