Chris Schramm has been granted his wish with the news that the 19-year-old will be returning to Smallmead to ride for the Reading Racers for the 2004 season on loan from Peterborough Panthers.

Schramm first joined Reading on loan in the 2001 season when he rode to a 2.96 average from 28 meetings. He again returned for the Racers the following season and made significant progress finishing with a 4.13 figure from 32 matches.

Reading attempted to purchase Schramm on a full-time deal from Peterborough prior to the 2003 season, but the move fell through as the two clubs couldn't agree a fee. Racers were then forced to change their team plans and the rider went to Newport Wasps on loan for the season.

Despite maintaining his form with a final average of 4.31 from 31 meetings for the Welsh club, he never made any secret of his wishes to return to Smallmead to ride for the Racers some time again in the future.

The Reading management often used him as a guest in their injury ravaged 2003 campaign, and each time he was called upon he put in impressive
performances in a bid to impress and prove his liking for the Smallmead track.
