The latest signing for the Weymouth Wildcats Speedway team by his own admission expects to make big strides in the sport by achieving an eight or nine point average in this years Conference League.

Based locally in Poole, the second signing this week for Brian White is popular Reading asset Danny Warwick.

Following hot on the heels of Shane Colvin's signing earlier this week White commented "Danny was the first rider to approach me asking for a chance to ride over two years ago once he caught wind that speedway could be returning to the south coast holiday resort town. Danny has helped out on the promotional side spreading the word that speedway was returning to the Wessex Stadium."

White continued "Weymouth Speedway expect big things of Danny this season, his set up and equipment is good, coupled with the experience he has gained riding for the Newport Conference League side, Premier League guest bookings and not forgetting British League Cup guest bookings for Poole mean he will be one young rider to watch out for in 2004."

Friday night saw Danny at the Weymouth training school passing on advice to the younger riders whilst putting one of his two recently acquired ex-Dean Barker rolling chassis through it's paces looking as he has since returning from injury this winter very fast and smooth around the Wessex Stadium track.

Before trying his hand on a speedway machine at legendary Olle Nygren's training school at King's Lynn in 1999, Danny rode motox for ten years picking up many trophies along the way.

"I would like to add some silverware to my collection this year whilst riding for the Wildcats" added Danny who bought his first speedway bike in the year 2000. "I have always loved bikes, since seeing speedway at Poole as a child, the bug stuck and I have always wanted to ride."

After taking part in a Southern Track Riders meeting at Reading on their main track, Danny's services were soon required by the Reading junior team who he rode for during 2001. Progression followed in the shape of regular Conference League outings for Newport 'Mavericks' for the following two seasons with the occasional Premier League guest booking.

Injury struck the popular Dorset man towards the end of last season whilst riding for Newport. After doing enough to endear himself to the south coast supporters and indeed impressing boss Brian White, Danny is now looking forward to an injury free season and would like to thank Parkstone MOT Centre, Future Racing, Wilson Windows and Poole Bay Builders for their sponsorship. "If anyone is able to help with additional sponsorship please contact Weymouth Speedway, it's very important to be competitive so that progress can be made in the sport."

Meanwhile Danny is taking a well earned break for a week snow boarding! "It's a great way to keep fit whilst having fun and a break from work."

Taking place in Weymouth Football Club bar this Thursday evening is a chance for prospective sponsors to meet and talk through the options available for the coming season with Brian White. On sale during the evening will be 2004 season tickets, this is a chance for supporters to pay by credit card. Supporters are asked to bring a passport size photograph signed on the reverse.

Last seasons staff are also asked to provide a passport size photograph signed on the reverse as are prospective new staff members. "There are a number of positions available which we would like to fill well before the start of the season" added White.
Wildcats signing number three will be announced next Sunday.
