Celebs at Smallmead.

Reading Speedway are pleased to report that they have some sporting celebrities coming along to Smallmead for the opening meetings of the new 2004 season.

For the season opener against Kings Lynn Stars, Monday 15th March - former WCW wrestling star and leading British grappler Gez "The Anaconda" Goring will be attending. Goring who stands at 6'5 and weighs in at almost 20 stone, appeared against many of America's superstars during a highly successful spell Stateside in the late 90's. Goring who is known as The Anaconda will be joined by his UK tag-team partner "Pretty Boy" Johnny Valentine on the evening and they will be available to meet any kids (and mums) who are wrestling fans.

The following Monday March 22nd for the visit of Rye House, Reading football Club's Marcus Hahnemann will make a guest appearance. The American goalkeeper is highly popular with the fans of the Royals, and was delighted to accept the club's guest invitation.

Euphony Racers club spokesman Andy Povey said, "Marcus is a big motorsports fan and really enjoyed himself when he came down last season with a group of the Reading players, so he's looking forward to getting another taste of speedway action."
