The Conference League have released the Wildcats fixtures for the 2004 season with the Wildcats opening fixture at the Wessex Stadium this Friday evening where a bumper crowd is expected to see the Wildcats in competitive action for the first time in 2004. This fixture takes the shape of a challenge match with a visit from the Swindon Sprockets under new promoter and former Wildcat Alun Rossiter.

With the Wildcats having their very own theme tune released the same evening at the stadium by sultry singer Tara, who will be available to sign copies of the new CD which will be available from the track shop on the night. As well as this, and as promised earlier this year Tara will also perform the single in the Wessex Lounge Bar after the meeting.

The Sprockets will be lead by the experienced Malcolm Holloway who will be supported by James Purchase, Tony Dart, Chris Johnson, Jordan Frampton, Steve Braidford and Daniel Harding, in no particular riding order. Several of the Sprockets side have either ridden last season or have been practicing at the Friday night training sessions so most will know their way around the Wessex Stadium which will keep the Wildcats on their toes all evening.

The full line up for the new look Wildcats is as follows at number 1 Justin Elkins who will captain the side this season, riding at number 2 Paul Candy starting his second year in the sport. Number 3 sees last seasons Boston number 1 Mark Thompson, with local lads from Poole at number 4 Danny Warwick and number 5 Chris Courage. Riding at reserve berth number 6 is Nathan Irwin who tasted action with the Wildcats last season and completing the side riding at number 7 is Jack Gledhill.

A new grandstand is being erected this week to ensure a little more comfort for supporters who will also see a number of changes and improvements that have been made during the winter months. The pits area although fenced off still gives the supporters a full view throughout the meeting, with a fresh lick of paint spread around the stadium the new advertising boards for sponsors and a refitted track shop all is looking good for the start of the season Friday night.

The advice is to get to the stadium early tapes up at 7.30pm. The new Club Call Wildcats hotline will be in operation for the first time with the latest weather news throughout the afternoon on 09066 555943, all call's cost 60p per minute at all times.

The weekend also sees the Wildcats make their first away journey of the season to visit Newport on Sunday in a double header meeting. First up it's Newport v Exeter in the Premier Trophy then it's the turn of the Wildcats to take on the Mavericks in Conference League action. Start time at Newport is 2.30pm.
