Sheffield guest George Stancl roared to a brilliant 15-point maximum as the Pirtek Tigers gave a much-improved away performance - but they were just edged out at Armadale.

Stancl's super show was supported by double-figure scores from Ricky Ashworth and Andre Compton, who won his first three rides, but the Monarchs just managed to protect their advantage.

With four heats to go, Tigers trailed by seven points, but 4-2s in both Heats 12 and 13 cut the gap to three points - and they could have gone in front but for a fine ride by Daniel Nermark in the penultimate race as the Swede overtook both Kyle Legault and Ashworth for a vital win.

Stancl completed his maximum in the final race as Nermark was ruled out with mechanical failure in the early stages - but Compton also ground to a halt on the second lap to end Sheffield's chances of a win.
