Davey Watt made a superb start to his Newcastle career with an impressive performance in their 49-41 defeat at Rye House.

The Australian scored 13+2 from seven rides after joining the Brough Park club in mid-week as a replacement for the injured Jesper Olsen.

Diamonds co-promoter George English said: "It's a relief to finally have Davey in the side now he finally has his work permit."
