Ulamek's return and the capture of Kolenko spells out bad news for Bjorn Hansen and Emil Kramer although both still figure in the club's long term plans.

Ulamek was axed by Lynn after failing to ride in their recent home match against Belle Vue Previously he had been riding in Sweden and Poland despite suffering a broken bone in his hand in a crash at the British Grand Prix.

But a remorseful Ulamek wrote to the Lynn management pleading for another chance and giving assurances that he is now 100% fit and wanting to ride for the Knights. His letter was backed up by another from the President Leszno, Ulamek's Polish club. The signing of Slovenian Kolenko, who first caught the eye when appearing at the 2000 International Young Pairs meeting at the Norfolk Arena, is something thatWagstaff has been working on for weeks as he continues his policy of looking to the future.

The 19 year old will not only be riding in the forthcoming World Cup being staged in this country but has also reached the final of this year's World under 21 Championship where he will come face to face with fellow Knights Bjorn Hansen and Freddie Eriksson.

"It's hard on Emil and Bjorn, " said Wagstaff, "but I just had to make these changes for the for the good of the club given our recent run of poor results. Both are really good lads and I want to stress that, being young, they can still very much play a part for us in the future."
